For Christall, her Maori ancestry and its associated richness of culture, as well as nature, have always been the inspiration for much of her work.
Her final thesis project towards her degree (pictured right) was based on the Maori rituals and processes associated with kai (food), and these concepts were translated into a spatial language. The result was a public eating space, namely restaurant/whare kai, which encapsulated the rituals around cultivation, harvesting, storing of food, preparation, cooking and eating.
