Tikanga - Weaving

Some protocols applied to weaving including such things as no eating while working.

Children were discouraged from touching or stepping over even unused materials.

It was believed that important garments could be worked on only in daylight and at the approach of strangers weaving was rolled up and covered.

Women did not cut flax or weave when menstruating or pregnant (at this time women are in a state of 'tapu').
